Legal issues are an important part of providing care for relatives. Although dealing with the court system and attorneys is the last thing you may want to deal with, it is important to know that legal intervention may be your best ally in obtaining the resources you need for the child(ren) in your care.
Support groups specifically designed for kinship caregivers are beneficial for kinship caregivers who need someone to talk to, or someone to lean on.Attending a support group for kinship caregivers allows you (the caregiver) to be in the company of other kinship caregivers, who may be experiencing problems or dilemmas, similar to your own. Participants often interact with one another by discussing their own situations, providing information and advice, and just lending an understanding ear. All kinship caregivers are encouraged to attend support groups, not only to help yourself, but also to help others in similar situations.
